Chapter 31 - An Odd Piece of Research on the Many Virtues of the Oriental Imagination:

Chapter 31 - An Odd Piece of Research on the Many Virtues of the Oriental Imagination: An exhibition curated by Mai Kanaaneh and Nadia Jaglom of the Sarha Collective, this will be a dazzling journey into the future of Palestine - through both utopian and dystopian visions of what lies ahead - in film, sculpture, installation, collage, painting and performance. It includes works by Palestinian artists working in the West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon, historic Palestine and throughout the global diaspora: artists who have exhibited widely and shown their work at Tate Modern, Saatchi Gallery, MoMA and various international biennials, as well as artists who have never exhibited in the UK before. Aiming to reflect the creative diversity of global, fragmented Palestinian communities, ‘Chapter 31’ counts amongst its contributors a second generation Gazan feminist video artist living in LA, a sculptor from Sabra refugee camp in Lebanon and a former political prisoner from Jerusalem who begun his artistic career whilst held in an Israeli jail. To be accompanied by a series of pop-up events, the exhibition dates are 5 August-3 September, 2016 at the P21 Gallery, 21-27 Chalton Street, London NW1 1JD.
