Mashrou' Leila: Be one of the first to hear the new material from the band labelled the voice of the Arab Spring, combining traditional Lebanese sounds with off-beat guitars and electronica. Having emerging from Beirut’s underground indie scene, Mashrou' Leila have continued to carve out their own distinct space within Arabic pop. Combining indie-rock influences with a characteristically Balkan sway that transports you to the cafés and bars of their home city, their music pulses with barely-contained energy. Singing in Arabic about LGBT rights, political freedoms, race, religion and modern Arabic identity, frontman Hamed Sinno’s performance personifies the passion of their message – as strikingly relevant as their music. Taking place on 28 November, 2015 at the Barbican Centre, Silk Street, London EC2Y 8DS.
